"Dope New Soul Cats" by Clev & LinX (R&B Artist from British Columbia, Canada)

"Dope New Soul Cats" by Clev & LinX is a dub hip-hop/R&B album featuring creative arrangements and a cutting edge sound. Among the endless elements and influences that make up the sound this duo creates are smooth jazz, funk, Latin, R&B, hip-hop and electronica, creating an overall sound similar to Wyclef Jean or Curtis Mayfield. The true talent these guys have is the ability to combine so many different things and make it work. The concept is clear and the album is consistent. The production quality is excellent. "Dope New Soul Cats" is very well mixed and ready for both club and radio play. Highlights include "Clouds Uptown," which has a smooth, "cool cat" sax and a tight beat. "Ghetto Espanole" features some quirky, Cee-Lo-esque vocals, a Latin flair, and a driving beat. "Fat Soul" is a down home and dirty head bobber that combines a hip-hop beat with a horn section and Latin guitar. Fans of dub hip-hop paired with any of a variety of world genres, you'll enjoy this excellent CD.
